About Adult Education

About Adult Education in Wyoming
Adult Education is a state-wide system that serves students 16 years of age or older who are not enrolled in a K-12 system. Our programs provide academic assistance to individuals working towards improving basic literacy and math, preparing for post secondary education or employment, need to earn a high school credential, or those needing to learn English so that they can effectively communicate and work in the United States. The centers also work with local employers, Next Generation Sector Partnerships, and other stakeholders to provide contextualized instruction geared towards improving productivity in the workplace so that Wyoming has an educated workforce that is well prepared for the future.
Adult Education is funded with both federal and state funds, and services are delivered through the local community colleges, Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 in Evanston, and the Wyoming Department of Corrections.
The mission of Adult Education in Wyoming is to provide innovative and cutting edge training, monitoring and leadership activities so that individuals are provided with the tools and strategies necessary for success. Adult Education centers effectively and efficiently deliver quality, learner centered adult education services to out-of-school youth and adults to carry out their roles as workers, parents, citizens, and community participants.
Each year approximately 2,000 students across Wyoming enroll in Adult Education for a wide variety of personal reasons. These students typically accrue more than 200,000 contact hours, through face to face classroom experiences, distance learning, and more recently through virtual learning environments.
Through cooperative agreements with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, the community colleges, and other relevant stakeholders, Adult Education students are also able to participate in on the job trainings, internships, apprenticeships, and in concurrent enrollments in post-secondary education/training, often at little or no cost to the student.
