WyIN Student Funding
The Wyoming Investment in Nursing (WyIN) program originally adopted by the 2003 Wyoming legislature, was amended by the legislature to continue until June 30, 2020. The funds are for students who are accepted into graduate nursing programs at a university or an undergraduate program at the University of Wyoming or one of the Wyoming community colleges. The funds are to assist with educational expenses as determined by the financial aid office at each academic institution. The need for financial assistance through WyIN is based on a student applying for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). There are also funds provided for nursing faculty to pursue masters or doctoral degrees. The loans are repaid by working as a nurse or nurse educator in Wyoming. WyIN Faculty Funding
In addition to providing financial assistance for students, the WyIN program is also set up to help the Wyoming Colleges expand their nursing programs throughout the state by funding (salary and benefits) for adding nursing teaching positions at community colleges, making it possible for those institutions to educate more nursing students. These funds are only available for the Colleges to apply for, not for individuals.
